Growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, I didn’t have to look far beyond my front doorstep to find systemic inequities.
I didn’t have to look far for the visionary groups working tirelessly to rectify them, either.
The murder of Michael Brown Jr. was a devastating, catalyzing event for many in our community. My anguish and rage drove me into social justice work and activism.
Comparing the 18 year-old that I was then, angrily shouting in the streets, to the person I am today, working on donor stewardship plans and creating infographics… my methods are different, but my drive is just the same: I want to empower those who have been, for all my life and long before it, systematically disempowered.
I want to help you all do that, too, and so that’s why I founded Moonbird.

Since my foray into the philanthropy sector, I’ve been empowered by numerous mentors, supervisors, and colleagues to challenge traditional fundraising norms, and urge a shift towards practices that prioritize collective well-being, economic justice, and equity.
When working with donors at various points in the giving cycle, I incorporate messaging around trust-based philanthropy and the decolonization of wealth as often as possible.
Additionally, I’ve created content for and executed in-person and virtual panel presentations focused on applying CCF principles to a major gift fundraising program. -
I was thrilled to play an instrumental role in the Forward Through Ferguson Catalyst Network, a database and digital gathering ground for activists to track their engagement and stay looped into volunteer opportunities, powered by EveryAction.
My work on this project included graphic design, drafting and distributing network-member communications, and designing CRM workflows. -
I had the opportunity to do a lot of graphic design, social media marketing work, and virtual event planning around Forward Through Ferguson’s “Still Separate, Still Unequal” report.
The same series led me to copy-editing and social media strategy planning in collaboration with Humans of St. Louis.
Subsequently, I wrote and met design needs for Still Separate, Still Unequal’s addendum blog-series, “Barriers & Blessings”. -
When the “Defund. Re-Envision. Transform.” campaign first launched in 2021, I helped to provide support for the coalition-led effort in various ways, from copy-editing to compiling public testimony into Youtube programming.

The Racial Healing + Justice Fund (RH+JF_ is a community-led funding opportunity for Black and Brown-led organizations in the St. Louis region.
As part of a Senior Storytelling and Communications Fellowship, I was able to provide broad comms support for the RH+JF, including but not limited to creating webpages to feature grantees, generating grantee spotlights for social media, and recording and editing a video on Black and Brown Joy. -
In 2022, I was a full-time development staffer at a civil rights organization in Montana when ballot measure LR-131 was introduced at the state legislature. If passed, this referendum would’ve codified the criminalization (and bolstered the stigmatization) of reproductive care at the state level.
Thankfully, the people of Montana voted no on LR-131.
In my role, I was able to draft language used to successfully fundraise c4 dollars to support our “No on LR-131”-coalition’s lobbying work.
In my personal capacity, I participated in numerous text-banks revolving around the same campaign.
